The Goldenberry (Physalis Peruviana) is the “Fruit of the Incas”, a delicious and refreshing tropical fruit with a delicate sour taste. It offers a high energy content, reduces cellular ageing and stabilises blood glucose. It is a fruit rich in vitamin A and C that strengthens the immune system.

It can be eaten as a natural snack, fruit can also accompany salads, yoghurt and cereals as well as being an ingredient in cooking and baking.

  • 100 g of Goldenberry contains 22% less sugar than cranberries.
  • 100 g of Goldenberry contains more potassium than 3 bananas.

EASY TO INCORPORATE

Dried Goldeberry can be used in juices, jams and as a healthy snack as "raisins", and many more way with creativity.

UNSATURATED FATTY ACIDS

Goldenberry contains about 2% oil on a fresh weight basis and the main fatty acid of the oil is linoleic acid. The Goldenberry also contains a relatively high portion of oleic acid and γ-linolenic acid.

HIGH ANTIOXIDANTS

One study showed that intake of Goldenberry (Physalis Peruviana L.) reduces young adults postprandial glycemia, at 90 and 120 minutes

ANTI-INFLAMMATORY

The anti-inflammatory activity of the Goldenberry (physalis peruviana L.) was evaluated by extraction of bioactive compounds with supercritical CO2, with which they obtain high levels of flavonoids 234mg/g and phenol 90 mg/g

SOME VITAMINS

Goldenberry is an excellent source of provitamin A (3000 IU of carotene per 100g) and 58-68mg of vitamin C per 100g.

HIGH MINERALS

Goldenberry has a relatively high content of minerals, such as iron, potassium and zinc. Iron: 0.3 - 1.23 mg/100g Potassium: 27 - 55.3mg/100g and Zinc: 0.28 - 0.4 mg/100g

Our Goldenberry is planted and harvested throughout the inter-Andean valleys of the departments of Ayacucho, Huánuco and Junin and is cared for throughout the entire process, from seedbed to hand-picking. Farmers receive a fair income for their produce as well as training to ensure the best product at all times.

Our top quality dried Aguaymantos are available from February to June.
